CARES Act Report and Disclosure

Final Quarterly Report

  1. Washington State University has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement on 4/14/20, and gives assurance that WSU intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES ACT to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. Washington State University has received $10,884,272.00 from the Department pursuant to our Certification and Agreement (for) Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 12/31/20 is $10,884,272.00.
  4. The estimated total number of students at Washington State University eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act was 23,079.
  5. The total number of students at Washington State University who have received an Emergency Financial Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of December 31, 2020 is 9,856.
  6. The first methods used by Washington State University to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) was based on need as determined by the FAFSA and is described in detail in the 30 day report. The student had to submit a Certification Form before these funds would disburse.
  7. The second method of grant distribution was through an online Emergency Request Form available to all students. Students authenticated through this secure portal using their WSU login credentials.
  8. WSU Student Financial Services Offices validated CARES eligibility parameters and students were eligible for a maximum award amount of $1500 in a term. Evaluation and awarding occurred weekly and students were sent an email communication of their eligibility.

All funds have been expended.
